When traveling for anything longer than a weekend, it can be daunting to think about what all to pack. If you are gone for weeks or even months at time, it’s important to pack light in order to make traveling that much easier (and affordable). The following items are sure to help lighten your load and ease the packing process on your next long trip!
A Travel Wallet
Everyone needs a wallet for everyday purposes, but a standard wallet doesn’t come with the compartments that make traveling (especially going through customs) that much more convenient. This includes a pocket for your passport, a pen holder, and ample space for any necessary cash and cards.
A Roll-Up Puffy Jacket
If you plan on traveling during the fall or winter months, a jacket is absolutely required for travel. However, most jackets that are even *remotely* warm can be big and heavy to lug around. The solution? A roll-up puffy jacket. Many even come with their own nylon bags to make storing this light jacket in your carry-on that much easier!
A Collapsable Water Bottle
Avoid the mistake of toting around a full sized water bottle that both takes up space and is susceptible to being taken by airport security. A collapsable water bottle ensures you save space, stay hydrated, and don’t spend a fortune on water at the airport. Some even come with carabiner clips to easily attach to the outside of your bag.

Pocket Laundry Detergent
Having detergent with you on a long trip makes packing less clothes that much easier! We recommend detergent sink packets so that you can easily wash your clothes in any hotel or airbnb, regardless of whether they have a washer. Packets are also lighter and easier to pack than liquid detergent, and you avoid the possibility of spillage!
Portable Luggage Scale
The prime reason for packing light is to avoid the exorbitant fees that airlines charge for overweight bags. To ensure you never have problems after you purchased a few gifts and souvenirs, a portable luggage scale can weigh your bag prior to arriving at the airport. No longer do you have to do a balancing act on your scale at home!
