Hawaii is known for having some of the most amazing beaches in the world. Among the many islands of this isolated tropical oasis, the beach most shocking with color is Maui’s Kaihalulu Beach, with has rusty red sands due to the iron deposits underneath. Bali is currently one of the trendiest places to go, thanks to it’s breathtaking beauty and cheap living. Despite being Indonesia’s most popular destination, there are many other spectacular, colorful local islands to explore, like the Pink Beach on Komodo Island. Microscopic organisms called Foraminifera produce a red hue in the island’s coral reefs, which mixed with white sand produce the attractive pink effect. Combined with the clear gem-like waters, its no wonder UNESCO named this a World Heritage Site!

While we typically think of beaches as tropical destinations, the Black Beach at Reynisfjara, Iceland is a northern beauty you wouldn’t want to miss. The dark black sand creates a dramatic effect that’s hard to find anywhere else. If the large looming stones off the shore look familiar to you, it’s because this beach was also used for filming season 7 of Game of Thrones.

If monochromatic beaches don’t cut it for you, then your best bet is visiting Glass Beach in California. Located in MacKerricher State Park, this beach used to be a trash dump that was too toxic to even go near. However, local authorities smoothed all the broken bottle bits and left this dazzling rainbow surprise, now entirely safe for strolling and swimming. Note- if you’re thinking of bringing home a souvenir from here, think again. Glass beach is now a protected site, so it is forbidden to take any of the glass.

A Sea Of Stars In Maldives

With its warm tropical climate and ocean perfect for snorkeling, the Maldives tops many peoples’ bucket lists. Another reason to plan your vacation there ASAP? To see the beautiful Sea of Stars at Vadhoo Island.
