Lonely Planet‘s calendar for making traveling plans in 2020 is officially here! The international site investigated destinations from all over the world, in order to present us with the perfect places to visit each month.
In fact, they relied on several variables such as the wether, activities and festivals. Although they released more than one destination per month, we bring you the best places to visit each month of 2020.
January
January is the month of hard winter in most countries. However, if you head to Africa, you may just enjoy warm weather. In Uganda, as it is dry season, you can enjoy a little Safari trip, or visit one of their big national parks.
February
As for the second month of the year, the Northern Lights spotting has pretty much made the top of the list. Furthermore, Iceland or Norway would be the perfect spots to do so. In addition, even if you miss the big show, you can still go snowboarding, sledding and enjoy all types of fun winter activities.
March
What’s better than waterfalls to begin Spring on the right track? The Iguazú Falls, which are found between Brazil and Argentina, are in full flow and display starting March.
April
In April, Cherry Blossoms are blooming, and guess what? Japan is ideal to spot the beautiful scenery. They spread northwards, and start end of March/beginning of April in Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima.
May
Several destinations are actually favorites for May. In fact, as the weather gets a lot better, you can do any out-in-the-open activity such as hiking, climbing or even rafting. According to Lonely Planet, Montenegro is the place for a multi-activity holiday.
June
St Petersburg in June is a wonderful idea. The White Nights Festival is a worth-living experience. Music, food, and drinks make up the perfect summer nights.
July
As for July, obviously you’d be looking for a beach destination. Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza in Spain, are islands that offer a vibrant nightlife, sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, amazing tapas and delicious Spanish culinary wonders.
August
If you are trying to escape the heat of summer all in all, you should plan your trip to Australia then. As they would be enjoying their mild winters, you can so a range of activities, and attend festivals.
September
This month represents the transition from summer to fall. In addition, it’s one of the sunniest months of the year in Dublin. Therefore, you can go on an adventure and explore this historic lively city.
October
Autumns in Jordan are usually not too hot nor too cold. Therefore, it’s the perfect time to hump on a camel in the mystic hidden gem of Petra. Otherwise, pack your bags and head even more south, to the gorgeous Moroccan desert.
November
Las Islas Canarias in Spain still keep their beauty summer weather in November. In fact, if you are looking for sunshine in Europe, check out the islands, or head to Malta as the temperature stays around 21ºC (70ºF).
December
Finally, December is the holidays month. Therefore, you may be interested in visiting some of the best Christmas markets out there. Eastern Europe will be ideal for some holidays fun.
