Visit The Ceiba Tree To Make Your Wishes Come True
One of the most popular local traditions every November 16th is to gather at the ceiba tree that is located in front of El Templete. This spot is designated as where Havana was originally founded 500 years ago. Additionally, the locals believe that the spirits of their ancestors live here. Also, at this spot people walk in a counterclockwise direction around the tree three times and make a wish. Despite it only being a superstition, you can join in the tradition starting at 6pm.
Join The Fun In The Marabana Marathon
Every year almost 5,000 people from around the world come to Havana to participate in the Marabana 10k, half-marathon, or full marathon. People flock to this occasion to enjoy the amazing views and sights so unique to the city. Additionally, prizes are awarded to some of the top finishers. You can join in the race this year on November 10th. In fact, you might even get to run alongside a celebrity like Will Smith!
Enjoy Free Concerts On Havana Night
On the night of the 15th, you can enjoy a number of free concerts in Havana. Starting at 9pm, concerts will be playing at over 5 different stages and spanning a length of 5 miles. Here is where you can enjoy the different Cuban tunes of bolero, salsa, and pop-rock.
Admire The Culture At Calle Obispo Street Festival
On the 16th, Calle Obispo will host the yearly street festival in Havana. People dress up as fairies, statues, and many different mythical, brightly colored characters. In addition to costumes, there will be music, food, and acrobatics. You’re sure to revel in the cultural Cuban splendor!
